The Challenge of Shifting Care to Outpatient Settings

The Challenge of Shifting Care to Outpatient Settings

Event organised by the Swiss Hospitals Purchasing Group (EGSK)

The shift of medical services from inpatient to outpatient care is currently a major concern across the entire healthcare sector. Whilst it opens up new opportunities in terms of efficiency, patient benefit and innovation, it also presents significant challenges for hospitals, specialist staff and medtech companies. At the invitation of the Swiss Clinics Purchasing Group (EGSK), Schmitz medical Swiss AG, HT Group, Arthrex and the SCDH provided around 50 interested attendees with fascinating insights into current developments and potential solutions.

Translated with DeepL.

Founded in 2012, the Swiss Clinics Purchasing Group (EGSK) has established itself as a neutral purchasing organisation within the Swiss healthcare sector. It supports its members with comprehensive expertise in optimising procurement processes, streamlining product ranges and reducing cost pressures through efficient purchasing strategies – issues that are becoming increasingly important in light of the growing shift towards outpatient care and current customs duties.

During the event, Schmitz medical Swiss AG, HT Group, Arthrex and the SCDH presented both their institutions and current projects aimed at addressing the challenges in inpatient and outpatient care. Among other things, flexible products and accessory solutions were presented for multidisciplinary use, for so-called ‘walking patients’, and for procedures under general or local anaesthesia – always with the aim of increasing comfort for both patients and healthcare professionals alike.

In addition, the event focused on sustainable and prefabricated room solutions, the simulation of facilities and processes – both on-site and at the SCDH – as well as continuous medical education and training.
